This is the first explosion that showed major electrical activity. Plume heights of 15.2 km were recorded for this event. There was 20.6 minutes of electrical activity, which began with amorphous and seemingly random discharges focussed over the vent. This type of activity persists for at least 2 minutes. The activity gradually shifted to small, discrete discharges, which became larger and more structured over time.
